Pickup & Drop-off Service
Almost no daycare in Renton does this.
We built our whole day around it.
Sunny offers AM pickup and PM drop-off as a separate, optional add-on for families inside our service radius. It's the reason most of our families enroll. It's also the part we take most seriously — Washington has detailed transportation rules for licensed child care (WAC 110-300-0480), and we follow every one of them.
One-way (drop-only or pickup-only) at 65% of round-trip. Service radius approximately 3.5–5 miles from our Benson Hill (98055) home, depending on corridor.
How we keep transport safe
The four questions every parent asks before they let someone else drive their child — and the answer to each, in plain language.
Who is driving my child?
Shamso (the owner) or an authorized substitute driver listed on your child's transport authorization form. Every driver carries a valid Washington driver's license, a five-year clean driving record, and current first-aid and CPR certification per WAC 110-300-0106(11).
Is the vehicle safe?
Our vehicle carries current insurance covering the driver, the vehicle, and every occupant. It carries emergency reflective triangles, a complete first-aid kit, and a charged phone. Car seats and child restraints follow RCW 46.61 — assigned by age and weight, never improvised.
What if something goes wrong?
Your child's health history, emergency contacts, and medical-authorization form are in the vehicle on every trip. We take roll-call attendance every time a child enters or exits the vehicle. We never leave a child unattended in the vehicle. If we're delayed for any reason, you'll get an SMS within 10 minutes.
What if you're sick or your car breaks down?
Every transport authorization form lists a pre-approved backup driver. If neither vehicle nor primary driver is available, you'll be notified the night before whenever we know in advance.

Common questions
- What's your pickup radius?
- Roughly 3.5 miles from our Renton home, with on-corridor exceptions to about 5 miles for full-time enrollments. This radius is set so no child spends more than the WAC-required maximum of two hours per day in the vehicle.
- Which neighborhoods are in range?
- Currently: Benson Hill, Cascade-Fairwood, Fairwood, Talbot Hill, Tiffany Park, Maplewood Heights, Renton Highlands, Kennydale, Newcastle, Tukwila, Skyway. If you live near these areas or along a major Renton commute corridor (I-405, SR-167, Maple Valley Hwy), reach out — we may still be able to make it work.
- What does pickup cost?
- Pickup is a separate monthly subscription, tiered by distance: Tier 1 (≤1.5 mi) is $150/mo; Tier 2 (1.5–3.5 mi) is $225/mo; Tier 3 (3.5–5 mi, on-corridor) is $300/mo. One-way (AM-only or PM-only) is 65% of the round-trip rate.
- Can you pick up my older child from elementary school?
- Yes, when the school is along our route and within the radius. We currently coordinate with families at several Renton School District elementaries — ask on your tour. Older-sibling pickup is one of the most common reasons families choose Sunny.
- How early — or late — can you pick up?
- Sunny is open 24/7, so pickup and drop-off can be scheduled around any shift: early morning before a 7am hospital shift, late night after a Boeing graveyard, weekend, or holiday. Tell us your contracted window on enrollment and we'll route it. Overtime past your contracted hours is $15/hr.
