Meet Shamso

Shamso Saeed is a mother of five and the heart of Renton Sunny Daycare. After years of juggling her own kids' care alongside the realities of working life in Renton — early shifts, long commutes, the daily scramble — she opened her home to other families looking for something better than what a chain can offer.

The daycare she built is not a classroom; it's a real home with a real kitchen, a real backyard, and a caregiver who knows your child by name from day one. Shamso believes the best early-childhood care has two parts in equal measure: the meaningful connection a child needs to feel safe, and the practical reliability a working family needs to actually get through their week. Both are why Sunny exists.

What "a real home" actually means

A chain center can have a thousand square feet of vinyl flooring and still feel like an office. Home daycare is different — and Sunny leans into that difference. Meals come out of the same kitchen Shamso cooks for her own family in. Naps happen on real cots in a quiet room. Play is mixed-age, so toddlers learn from preschoolers and infants are held by familiar arms. The state allows family homes to operate at a much smaller ratio than centers, and we use every bit of that smaller ratio to actually pay attention to your kid.

Open when other daycares are closed

Sunny is open 24 hours a day, every day of the year — including overnights, weekends, and holidays. Most home daycares in Renton open at 6:30 or 7 and close at 6. That doesn't work for nurses on night shift, parents in transitional housing whose case-worker appointments are at 8am, or families whose hours change week to week. Sunny is built for those families. We accept WCCC subsidy and we'll walk you through the application if you haven't started yet.

The pickup service is the practical part

Shamso watched too many of her neighbors in Renton burn out from driving both commutes — daycare, school, work, and back again. So Sunny offers what almost no other home daycare in Renton offers: pickup and drop-off as a separate, optional add-on, tiered by distance from our Benson Hill home. Fully compliant with WAC 110-300-0480, and the safety standards we follow are the same ones the state holds us to.

Licensed and accountable

Sunny is a Washington DCYF Licensed Family Home (license #PL-82495, provider ID 2075196, capacity 12). You can verify our license and inspection history anytime on the state's Child Care Check site.
