Why Sunny exists

Renton runs on shift work. Valley Medical and Providence run 24/7 hospitals. The Boeing 737 line runs three shifts. Families come through community centers and shelters needing childcare that works around DSHS appointments, new jobs, and unpredictable schedules. Most daycares open at 6:30 or 7 and close at 6 — and they don't take WCCC.

Sunny is built around the families those daycares leave out. We're open 24 hours, every day. We accept WCCC subsidy and walk families through the application. We offer optional pickup and drop-off. Your kids spend the day (or night) in a real home — a real kitchen, a real backyard, and the same caregiver every shift.

How pickup works

Optional add-on. Tiered by distance from our Benson Hill home.

  1. 01

    We come to you

Shamso (the owner) arrives at your door in the agreed window. Car seats are pre-installed and assigned to your child. You walk one child to the curb instead of buckling them into your own car for two stops.

  2. 02

Your kids spend the day at Sunny

Real home, real meals, the same caregiver from arrival to handoff. State-required ratios in a 12-child mixed-age setting — far smaller than a chain.

  3. 03

    We bring them home

Drop-off at the time you need — day, evening, or after a night shift. Your kid arrives back home already settling in.

Honest pricing

Our base tuition is set to the DCYF Region 4 Licensed Family Home rate — the same rate the state pays providers. WCCC subsidy families pay only their assigned copay. Transport is a separate add-on by distance.

Common questions

What are your hours?
Sunny is open 24 hours a day, every day of the year — including overnights, weekends, and holidays. We're built for hospital and shift workers, families in transitional housing, and parents whose schedules don't fit a 9-to-5. Daytime, swing, graveyard, or holiday — care is available.
Do you accept Working Connections Child Care (WCCC) subsidy?
Yes. Sunny is a Licensed Family Home and our rates are anchored to the DCYF Region 4 base rates, so WCCC families pay only their state-assigned copay for base tuition. We work with parents who are mid-application, and with shelter and community-center case workers walking parents through the DSHS process.
Where do you pick up from?
Within roughly 3.5 miles of our Benson Hill home in south Renton (98055), with on-corridor exceptions to about 5 miles. We currently serve Benson Hill, Cascade-Fairwood, Fairwood, Talbot Hill, Tiffany Park, Maplewood Heights, Renton Highlands, Kennydale, Newcastle, Tukwila, and Skyway. Tell us your address on the tour-booking form and we'll confirm before your visit.
How is transportation safe?
We follow WAC 110-300-0480 in full: car seats and restraints per state law, a driver with a valid license and at least a five-year clean driving record, current first-aid and CPR certification, an insurance policy covering all occupants, and roll-call attendance every time a child enters or leaves the vehicle.
What ages do you serve?
6 weeks through 12 years. Licensed capacity is 12 children with mixed-age groupings appropriate to the state-required ratios.
How does pricing work?
Base monthly tuition is set at the DCYF Region 4 Licensed Family Home rate for each age band (the same rates the state pays providers). One-time registration fee is $50/year. Transport pickup/drop-off is a separate $150–$300/mo add-on by distance. Late pickup is $1/minute and overtime past contracted hours is $15/hour.
